Faith is paramount regardless of your denomination. But as women continue to be dominant in congregations why aren’t these figures reflected in leadership positions in Caribbean churches? For the Caribbean woman religion has always been a pervasive influence. Often the basis for determining the rules of female appearance and conduct in our Christian dominated society, organized religion has in many ways shaped women’s perspectives of themselves and their roles at home and in the community, which range from oppressive, degrading her status, to empowering, valuing her self worth.We also ask: Are God’s messengers keeping faith intact or are they just a bunch of hypocrites?
